The Shot Heard 'Round The World

So somehow the phrase "The shot heard 'round the world" came up the other day, and I quickly discovered that my wife and I have different events come to mind when we hear that phrase. Both events make perfect sense, so I decided to check it out online. I found that there are three largely accepted events for the phrase, and apparently it is used to refer to other events.

Without looking it up, what do you think of when you hear "The shot heard 'round the world"? I'll post later what we both thought, I don't want to put any ideas into your head.

Leave a comment with the event you think of when you hear "The shot heard 'round the world."

I think of the start of the American Revolution. But that's probably only because I'm old enough to remember school house rock.

That's what she thought of. Started singing the song. Which is funny because I'm older than she is, yet I don't remember that

I thought that phrase was associated with the gunshot that killed Kennedy in Dallas...

Jerry - That was one I found online

Jesse - I hadn't heard of the JFK meaning, but that would make sense. No one has hit the one I thought it was though

When Gavrilo Princip fired his pistol into the car carrying Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo. Killing him and his wife and setting off a diplomatic cascade that would result in World War I.
