Making Money Online

Here are a few methods which I have personally used to make a little bit of money online. None of these are going to turn you into a millionaire (unless I'm doing it wrong!), but you can make a bit of cash back.

The first and easiest is just to save your own money! Many banks now offer online-only savings accounts. These accounts are FDIC insured, and pay a much higher interest rate than your bank probably does. The only catch is that you have to access it online, you can't go into a bank, but if you're trying to save, that's OK! ING Direct offers an account currenly paying 3% interest. If you open an account with an initial deposit of at least $250, they'll give you $25, and if I refer you, I will also get $10. Email me if you want a link!

Survey are a fairly effective method to earn some money. I use 3 different programs:
SurveySavvy pays you for surveys, and that money builds in your account until you request a check. So far I've cashed out $93.50 from them. To join follow this link:

The second I use is the Global Opinions Panel. Each of their surveys gives you points, and those points can be redeemed for gift cards to major retailers. I recently joined, although Erin has gotten about $40 in cards. If you want a referral to the program, email me

The third is American Consumer Opinion. They just send you a check for each survey you qualify for. I've made about $10 from them so far.

Another I recently joined is called Ebates. This site basically is full of links to online retailers, and when you sign up, you shop through their links, and you get cash back on your purchase, up to 25%. They have lots of places like Amazon, Expedia, Orbitz, Barnes and Noble, tons of places! I just recently signed up, and haven't made any purchases yet, but it has lots of potential as I do use several of these online retailers. Sign up, and we each get $5 when you make your first purchase.

The last site is called MyPoints. Similar to Ebates, you can shop through them, and earn points that you can redeem for giftcards. Personally, I'd rather shop through Ebates and get the cash straight back, but you can also get points just for reading a daily email, answering short surveys, and things like that. If you'd like a referral, just email me at jhobolt85 at yahoo dot com

And that's all for now. I'm thinking of doing a post soon on the pros/cons of credit cards, specifically points/rewards cards.

I really enjoy your money saving tips! Pretty good ways to save money online. Try www.savingswatch.com also, they give a much higher cashback! I’ve been using it for over a year now, and have saved well over $100 since I started.
It’s worth checking out!

Thanks so much! I checked out that site, and it definitely does pay higher. I have an upcoming trip, and through ebates, the rebate wasn't high enough to justify going through one of those travel sites since the taxes and fee were higher than going throug the hotel's own website, and with the same nightly rate! But with that savingswatch, it is a better deal to go through them than to go through the hotel's website!
