Why scratching feels good

Scientists have done a study and found why scratching feels good.

Apparently when you scratch, the part of the brain that controls pain temporarily shuts down. So you end up feeling relief. I am one of those people who gets great relief out of strange things (one of them is sneezing), and scratching is up at the top. When I come home from work, I pull out the back scratcher, and usually have a good 5-minute session. But really, do I care why it feels good? Not really, it's just one of those things that work out.
